In August 2010, the DePuy Orthopaedics unit of Johnson & Johnson recalled the ASR™ Hip System used as a hip implant after more than two years of complaints and complications.
This hip replacement recall affects the following products:
- ASR™ XL Acetabular System
- DePuy ASR™ Hip Resurfacing System
Patients have complained of the following problems with their ASR™ Hip System:
- Loosening, when the implant does not stay attached
- Dislocation
- Fracture, where the bone around the implant may have become cracked or broken
Patients may feel discomfort or pain, and in some cases may even have to undergo an additional artificial hip replacement surgery.
Andrews & Thornton proudly represented individuals with injuries from defective hips and helped them obtain compensation for their ordeal.
