The Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) has asked local retailers to remove OxyELITE Pro, a dietary supplement for weight loss and/or muscle gain, from shelves during the ongoing investigation of dozens of cases of acute hepatitis and liver failure. Hawaii DOH has also advised the public to discontinue use of OxyELITE Pro. Two people from Hawaii have already undergone liver transplants, and one woman passed away last week.

OxyELITE Pro, manufactured by USPlabs, has been linked to most of the liver failure cases; however, Hawaii state epidemiologists are investigating possible links to other dietary supplements. Hawaiian health authorities urge people to seek immediate medical attention for the following symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Abdominal pain/discomfort
  • Yellow skin or eyes
  • Jaundice
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Loss of appetite

The FDA just issued a Public Health Advisory regarding acute hepatitis cases linked to OxyELITE Pro. The FDA, CDC, and Hawaii DOH are continuing to investigate the growing number of reports of liver failure linked to OxyELITE Pro and/or other dietary supplements.
